Open paths

What’s your idea?

Crowdsourcing the development, maintainance, documentation and mapping of new and existing long distance walking trails.

What inspired you to come up with the idea in the first place?

I like walking the long distance trails. Sometimes when walking I enjoy mendalising them (The opposite of vandalism).  Last week when walking the capital ring, we thought it would be cool to create our own, and print books of stickers to stick the little yellow arrows on the route.

What can we do for you?

Geeks and designers to build the website and an app for iphone or G1. Campaigners and publicists to excite people about it. We would make it sustainable by hopefully getting money from the national parks and the organisations which currently maintain the UK National Trails and other long distance paths. The long distance walker’s association and rambler’s association might help too.

From 1-5, what stage of development would you say your idea was in?
